Our Staff

Director of AIM:
Sandy Shaw, Ph.D., PSY 18351 Dr. Shaw is a licensed, clinical psychologist. She has over 16 years of experience working with children, adolescents and adults with autism spectrum disorders and related developmental disabilities. Dr. Shaw adopts an integrative treatment approach that includes the use of behavioral, educational, psychological, language and social skills training treatment modalities in the treatment of individuals with autism spectrum disorders and other developmental disabilities.

Dr. Shaw provides consultation, supervision and trainings on autism spectrum disorders and educational, behavioral and functional treatment programs for individuals with autism spectrum disorders. She also provides in-services and workshop to parents, school personnel, and other mental health providers on topics relating to autism spectrum disorders, behavioral and educational treatment for individuals with autism spectrum disorders and related treatment issues across the life span for these individuals.
Clinical Program Coordinators:

Jennie Myhra, M.A. B.C.B.A., Jennie is a credentialed special education teacher with a Masters Degree in Special Education with an emphasis in Autism from San Diego State University. She is also Board Certified Behavior Analyst. She has 8 years experience in working with children, adolescents and adults with Autism Spectrum Disorders (ASD) and Developmental Disabilities (DD). Previously to her employment with AIM, Jennie taught in the San Diego Unified School District for 3 years. She currently supervises student teachers in the special education credential program at San Diego State University. Jennie has extensive experience in providing and supervising behavioral treatment programs for infants/toddlers and young children in intensive ABA programs. Jennie provides intensive parent training and consultation services for families with individuals diagnosed with ASD and DD.

 

Brandy D. Macy, Psy.D., PSY 20536 Dr. Macy is a licensed, clinical psychologist. She began working with children with autism spectrum disorders (ASD) and other developmental disabilities (DD) during her undergraduate studies in 1998. In 2004, Dr. Macy graduated with her doctorate from the Child and Family Track program at the California School of Professional Psychology. In addition to her work with children with (ASD) and (DD), Dr. Macy has experience working with children with Attention Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder(ADHD), learning disabilities, depression, anxiety as well as other presenting problems. Dr. Macy provides individual, group, couple and family psychotherapy as well as psychodiagnostic, psychoeducational and learning disability assessments. Dr. Macy has extensive experience in providing and supervising behavioral treatment programs for infants/toddlers and young children in intensive ABA programs. She also facilitates and supervises social skills groups, parent training and behavioral consultation services.

 

Senior Behavior Specialist: 


Sarah Sandauer, M.S., B.C.B.A., Sarah received her Bachelor's Degree in Psychology with a minor in Education Studies from the University of California, Los Angeles. She received her Master's Degree in Applied Behavior Analysis from Northeastern University in Boston, and is currently licensed as a Board Certified Behavior Analyst. While completing her graduate program, Sarah worked at The New England Center for Children, a residential school located outside of Boston, MA and gained experience in research, direct therapy, case management, various asessment/treatment designs, and IEP goal development for children who exhibit a challenging behavioral repertoire. Professional experience in California as a behavior analyst includes supervision includes supervision of intensive in-home ABA programs which provides direct therapy and parent consultation services to toddlers and young children with Autism and other disabilities.


Behavior Specialists: 

 

 

Ashley Adams, B.A., Ashley has a Bachelor's degree in Liberal Studies with an emphasis in Human Development and is currently in the process of obtaining her BCaBA. She has five years of experience working with children of varying ages ranging from infants to adolescents with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), other Developmental Disabilities (DD), and Communicative Disorders in school, home, and clinical settings. Ashley provides parent training and behavior consultation services to families of individuals who exhibit challenging behaviors. She also assists in staff development, training in intensive behavioral treatments for infants and young children, and supervision of intensive ABA programs.  

  

Jacqueline Bowman, B.A., Jacqueline has her Bachelor's degree in Psychology and is currently in the process of obtaining her BCaBA and is planning on attending graduate school in the Fall of 2010. She has worked with children and adolescents with Autism Spectrum Disorders (ASD) and Developmental Disabilities (DD) in various settings for the past seven years, specifically in the home setting for the past two and a half years. She has worked with various ranges of functioning as well as ages ranging from infancy to early adulthood. She assists with staff development and training in intensive behavioral treatment programs for young children, and adolescents in intensive ABA programs. She also provides behavior consultations and training to parents of children with ASD. Jacqueline also implements and facilitates social skills groups for children with ASD and DD.

 

Tiffani Earnest B.A., Tiffani has her Bachelor's degree in Psychology and is a currently enrolled in the master program for Clincal Psychology. She has extensive experience working with children in both the school and home settings. She has 10 years experience working with children of varying ages with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) and other Developmental Disabilities (DD). Tiffani provides parent training and consultation for families of individuals diagnosed with ASD and DD. She assists with staff development and training in intensive behavioral treatment programs individuals in intensive ABA programs.

  

Nichole Hardy, B.A., Nichole has 5 years of experience working with children and adults with Autism Spectrum Disorder  (ASD) and other Developmental Disabilities (DD). She also has experience as a classroom assistant with the Ventura County School District. She worked in both a juvenile detention center with at risk youth and multiple Special Education Programs. Additionally she has worked with children with Emotional Disturbances at a Crisis Care Program emergency shelter. Nichole has her BA in Psychology from Point Loma Nazarene University and is currently studying to get her BCaBA. She hopes to finish her Masters in the next two years and is looking into the Special Education program at SDSU.

 

Angela Hess, B.A., Angela has a Bachelor's degree from Towson University and is a credentialed Special Education and General Education Teacher.  She has been working with children for 6 years, and has worked with Individuals with Autism Spectrum Disorders (ASD) and Individuals with Emotional Disturbances, as well as many other Developmental Disorders.  Angela taught Special Education for 3 years in Baltimore, MD and she has been working with AIM since May, 2009.  Angela has experience providing behavioral treatement programs for a wide range of clients.  She assists in staff development and training for in-home ABA services.  Angela provides Parent Training and Behavior Consultation services to families with Individuals diagnosed with Autism Spectrum Disorders and Developmental Disabilities.

 

Kirstin Kirkutis, B.S., Kirstin has a Bachelor's degree in Special Education and is currently in the process of obtaining her Masters in Autism and BCBA. She is a credentialed teacher and has eight years experience working with children of varying ages ranging from adolescents to adults with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) and Developmental Disabilities (DD) in school and home settings. Kirstin provides parent training and consultation to families with individuals diagnosed with ASD and DD. She also assists in staff development for in-home intensive ABA services.

 

Melanie Mendoza, B.A., Melanie is currently enrolled in a School Psychology graduate program to receive her M.A. in the Spring of 2010. She has worked with children with ASD and DD for nearly two years. She supervises tutors in intensive home ABA programs for infants and young children. Additionally, she provides behavior consultation to parents with children with ASD and other disabilities, ranging from 4-19 years old, implementing techniques within behavior modification and systematic desensitization.

  

Melissa Pinn, M.A., Melissa is a licensed marriage and family therapist with a Masters degree in clinical psychology. She has over eight years of experience in working with children and adolescents with Autism Spectrum Disorders (ASD) and Developmental Disabilities (DD). She has extensive experience providing direct intervention and supervision of intensive ABA programs with infants and young children in the home and in school settings. Melissa has focused on working with children who require specific instruction in areas of social skills training.

 

Pamela Tobias, M.A., Pamela has her Bachelor of Arts in Psychology and Master of Arts in Clinical Psychology. She has been working for AIM since August 2005. She is currently pursuing a license in Marriage and Family Therapy (MFT). Although, Pamela has extensive training and knowledge of children with Autism Spectrum Disorders, she also has a diverse background working with children diagnosed with other developmental disabilities (DD) and their families, including: Rett's Disorder, Fragile X Disorder, Epilepsy, Down's syndrome, Childhood Disintegrative Disorder, Cerebral Palsy; as well as mental retardation due to complications at birth. Pamela is also experienced in providing behavioral services to children from ages 2 to 18 years old and adults ranging from 21 to 40 years old. In addition to her work providing behavioral services to children with DD and their families, Pamela has facilitated numerous social skills groups for children and is currently co-facilitating a social skills group catered to young adults diagnosed with Asperger's ad high functioning Autism.

 

David M. Trejo, Ph.D., BCBA-D, Dr. Trejo received his B.A. in Psychology from the University of Texas at El Paso.  He earned his M.S. in Psychology with an emphasis in Applied Behavior Analysis and Ph.D. in Psychology with an emphasis in conditioning and learning, developmental psychopathology, and social psychology from the University of Wisconsin at Milwaukee.  Dr Trejo is currently working on completing licensure.  Dr. Trejo has been an instructor for graduate level ABA courses and supervised off-campus laboratory placements with the autism intervention providers in southeastern Wisconsin.  Dr. Trejo is a Board Certified Behavior Analyst (Doctoral level) who began working with children and adolescents with developmental disabilities in 1998.  He is fluent in Spanish and has experience working with families of diverse cultures.  


ABA Trainers:

 

Alexandra Araiza, B.A., Alexandra graduated from San Francisco State University with a Bachelors in Liberal Studies. She is currently attending San Diego State University to obtain a Masters in Special Education with an Emphasis in Liberal Studies; as well as a BCaBA. Alexandra has five years experience working with children with special needs, including Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), in home, school and community settings. Alexandra provides parent consultations and trainings to families with individuals diagnosed with ASD and Developmental Disabilities (DD). She also assists in staff trainings for in-home ABA services. 

  

Lucie Vaculikova, MSc., Lucie has her Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from San Diego State University and Master of Science in Child and Adolescence Mental Health from King's college in London. From 2006 to 2008 Lucie worked as a Behavior Interventionist for AIM and was trained in Behavior Modification, Discrete Trial Training (DTT), Pivotal Response Training (PRT), Treatment & Education of Autistic and Related Communication Handicapped Children (TEACCH), Social Stories, Speech and Language, Sensory Integration & Modulation, Parent Training, Picture Exchange Communication System (PECS) and Social Skills Group. During her graduate work she received training at Mary Sheridan Center in London, where she collaborated with a team of psychiatrists, psychologists, pediatricians, speech & language therapists, occupational therapists, physiotherapists, parents and school districts to provide complete assessments, diagnoses and services to children with developmental disabilities and/or mental issues range from 0 to 18 years of age. At the beginning of 2011 Lucie returned to San Diego to continue her employment with AIM as ABA Trainer and she is currently starting the BCBA program. Her long-term plan is to set up an agency in the Czech Republic, her home country, for children with ASD and other related disorders.
